how I create meaning

About you & me…

You:

You care about the process as much as the outcome. Of anything. More bothered about relationships than things. You care just as much about how your images make you feel, how the whole experience of being photographed makes you feel: celebrated, relaxed, seen.

Me:

I work discreetly but equally love to mingle and “disappear” in the celebrations. My success criteria is pure and simple: to deliver images that are “you” whilst also providing a meaningful experience for both you and your guests. You are investing in me and therefore I absolutely invest myself in you and your story.

Us:

We connect, we understand that good collaborations happen when there is a good rapport, and a good rapport happens when we let go. We can let go. You can be you. I can be me. The whole of you on your wedding day: happy, apprehensive, calm, anxious.

So when I photograph your wedding, we don't just make keepsakes together. We create a meaningful experience. Together.

Thank you for being the dream to work with. I don’t usually like photos of myself but there genuinely wasn’t a picture I didn’t love - you’re a genius

Emily, you are such a gem! We had such a wonderful time with you. You made everyone feel totally at ease and captured so many amazing moments for us.

Summing up my style

It’s relaxed. It’s natural. Un-staged. Uncomplicated. My instagram feed isn’t typical… but then again if you are here, neither are you? Whether my images are strong portraits or wide compositions that tell a story, they all have this in common: energy, emotion, tenderness & affection.

My approach

I am in right in there and also completely out of the way. I mingle with your guests, learn their names, chat about their life stories, have a laugh and a banter… and all the while, because people are now used to me, I take images that are more honest, more telling and far far more authentic.

Your wedding is

about the real you

How does it feel to work with me?

I have been told by previous clients that, above all, it feels like they’ve known me forever, it feels comfortable, it feels fun, it feels relaxed, it feels meaningful.

Your wedding is

about the party “you”

Original images for original people

You might have worked out by now that posed couples in sunset lit fields don’t feature on my website… I can take those if you want, but my strength is in composing around real moments. My passion is street photography, and I regularly study the likes of Vivian Maier, Larry Fink, Helen Levitt, Joel Meyerowitz, Martin Parr, etc. The images I take at your wedding are compositions that are not always obvious but instead encapsulate story-telling. I like to deliver a good balance of strong portraits as well as wide frames that paint… well, a picture of your day.

Whoever you are…

Make sure you do “you”…

The vast majority of my clients are “camera-shy”… if you are camera-shy too, then choose your photographer according to one main criteria: how quickly you relax in their company, how easy the conversation is , how fast banter evolves. Most of us documentary photographers in the industry can take a good photo, so it’s mainly all down to personality. Bonding with my clients is my number one priority. Because without a bond, I can’t get you to let go. And if you don’t let go, I can’t take images of you that you’ll love. From the moment you hire me, it’s all about connection, bond and good teamwork.
