We’re whispering!
We’re whispering because it’s those few minutes straight after nap time when blinds are being opened again and the warm afternoon sun rays help to gently restart the day.

Absolutely love to capture those times as a photographer. The kinda times that you want to remember as a parent (well probably not all of post-nap times I am sure🤣🤣🤣) when they are still all sleepy, calm and snuggly. These little fellas are from one of my Year In A Life families. Have seen them develop even in the last 6 months since I started working with them.

Because I photograph them and their family every other month (excluding lockdowns), I have time to compose uniquely for this family.

Here for example, we know that N’s big brother can’t get enough of him. Definitely those times when a 4 year old goes about hugging his little 1 year old brother like a bull in china shop, no subtlety at all… so yes, I will compose this way to show what these two used to be like… because quiet times with two fast-growing boys are seldom.

I compose uniquely for this family to reflect a sense of time passing. Take a look at the image in the background. I waited for this precise moment to happen to end up with a bit of a mirror of concepts.

I will have time to look for angles that tell a story, or even more than one story. I will also capture portraits that I know encapsulates their personality. I will set the scene with some shots to remind the family in years to come what “life used to be like”.

I will have time to connect. Because connecting and learning about my families as human beings us hugely important to me. Understanding what makes them who they are and celebrating that is absolutely what my work is about.
